FlipSide Luggage is here to change the travel game. We are not bringing USB chargers or collapsable closets with wheels, we are simply fixing one of the oldest travel frustrations known to man, what to do with your dirty clothes while traveling! Having completed the development and testing of our Carry-On luggage, we are now looking to expand the product lines and to develop full-sized luggage with the same functionality.
Where We Started
Our original concept featured a structured, spring-loaded center divider with corner guides. While innovative, we found it added unnecessary complexity, reduced packing space, and introduced more potential points of failure.
We simplified the design, focusing on functionality and efficiency. Through an Instagram poll, we also learned that most travelers preferred soft-sided luggage and four-wheel mobility. We incorporated that feedback before creating our first prototype, allowing real traveler preferences to help shape the final design.
This was our first functional prototype. It wasn’t beautiful, but it solved the problem we set out to address and proved the concept worked. From there, our focus shifted to refining the design into something we could proudly put our name on—and ultimately bring to travelers.
Moving in the right direction, we refined the design by positioning the wheels farther toward the edges—creating a more balanced, stable, and effortless carry.
We chose refined soft-touch handles over traditional hard handles—elevating both the aesthetic and the comfort of every journey.
In 2024, we were honored to be named a finalist for Best Luxury Travel Product, ultimately earning the distinction of Runner-Up at the Travel Goods Awards. Since then, we have won several awards for our design from renowned Travel Retail Awards & Tokyo Design Awards.
With the design, features, and quality standards firmly established, our next step was finding a production partner capable of bringing them to life. We were uncompromising in this process, selecting a facility that shared our commitment to exceptional craftsmanship and meticulous quality.
We’re proud to say that FlipSide Luggage is produced in the same facilities trusted by luxury luggage brands whose products retail for more than twice the price. Each suitcase is handcrafted through a meticulous process involving more than 60 individual craftspeople, with four dedicated quality-control inspections along the way.
Every detail is carefully examined before it leaves our facility, ensuring that each FlipSide suitcase meets the elevated standards of quality, durability, and craftsmanship we believe you should expect from premium luggage.
Where We Are
With the Carry-On products having been tested through functional prototypes and the first production run is about to wrap up. We were now able to shift our focus to the full size prototyping. As you can imagine inventory isn't cheap, so the the support we get from pledges will allow us to bring the full-sized bags to market a year quicker than if we had to organically grow, and also to start development of other products to offer up. Where We Are Going
The 26" Full-Size Checked Suitcase features larger stripes and spacing, carefully proportioned to complement its larger frame. Measuring 26" × 19" × 11" and weighing just 12 lbs empty, it offers generous capacity without compromising the refined design.
The 29" Large Checked Suitcase is our largest offering, with refined stripe proportions and spacing designed to complement its generous frame. Made for over-packers and extended journeys of two weeks or more, it measures 29" × 20" × 12" and weighs just 14 lbs empty—giving you the space to bring more without sacrificing thoughtful design.
